Ashley MacDonald
Ashley MacDonald is a member of the Business and Social Sciences Department, Faculty of Agriculture, where she has been a teaching assistant, part-time academic, and now instructor, since 2017. Her current teaching includes Writing for Business, Agricultural Manager I and II, Introduction to Business, and Human Resource Management. Holding a B.Sc(Agr) (Agricultural Business, Minor in Agricultural Economics) and a Masters Degree in Agriculture focusing on consumer and food waste, she has a strong interest in data-driven decision making and sustainability. She is also doing her PhD, on success of small scale dairy farms.
Ashley’s teaching integrates Universal Design in Learning Principles, and she incorporates many of her own experiences in the agricultural industry and management. The various approaches she uses engages students in subject areas that many find difficult. As one 2024 Diploma in Business Management student commented “…this case study and the games played really helped and grew my thought bubble on everything in life…” Other instructors look to Ashley for innovative ways in engaging students – she can be relied on to try new approaches and adapt these according to student reaction.
